Detecting semi-specular reflection component from a sequence of images

چکیده
In this paper, I address the problem of detecting incidental reflection from a sequence of images to improve the quality of background subtraction. This paper begins with a brief overview of previous work on separating specular-reflection from the reflective surface. The model I propose is based on a dichromatic illumination model, while not making any assumptions about the reflectance spectra and illumination change. The model is mostly using pixel information and some context information of images such as the color of foreground object in the scene. Unlike the previous methods, I attempt to retrieve the specular-reflection coefficient in the chromaticity color space to differentiate the specular-reflection component from the foreground component. Following the explanation of the model, the results of the experiment can be found. I also offer some results from Linear Independent Component Analysis (ICA) and Blind Source Separation (BSS) for comparison’s sake. The distribution of the specularreflection coefficient shows that the linear discriminant function can be used in detecting the semi-specular reflection. This paper concludes with the significance of the model and poses the problems yet to be solved.

Specular Reflection Reduction in Context of Skin Pattern Analysis
A method of combining optical skin images obtained at different illumination angles is proposed to reduce the effect of specular reflection in normal white light clinical skin images in order to avoid optical interference with the analysis of skin line pattern. A weighted average image with weights determined by independent component analysis of the images shows a demonstrable reduction in the ...

In order to create a photorealistic VR model, we have to record the appearance of the object from different directions under different illuminations. In this paper, we propose a method which renders photorealistic images from small size of data. First, we separates the images of the object into diffuse reflection component and specular reflection component by using circular polarizers. Then, we...
متن کاملDeveloping a New Automatic Vision Defect Inspection System for Curved Surfaces with Highly Specular Reflection
This paper aims to create an automatic vision defect inspection system that is capable of detecting defects on highly specular reflection curved surfaces, especially for chrome-plated surfaces. These are strongly specular surfaces with very weak diffuse reflection. It is impossible to detect all the defects in one image in which defects may be covered by highlight regions or do not appear becau...
متن کاملRe-rendering from a Sparse Set of Images
We present a method to accomplish photorealistic rendering of real-world objects from their sparsely sampled appearance variation. Using a 3D model and a small set of images of an object, we recover all the necessary photometric information for subsequent rendering from arbitrary viewpoints and under novel lighting conditions. We first extract the diffuse reflection component from the input ima...
